Growing China-Taiwan Tension and the United States Involvement
Abstract
The year 2021 has been described as the worst year of tension between China and Taiwan. But what has led to this situation? The paper talks about the historical factors that have led to the present situation as well as why Taiwan is so important for China. Further, it describes the US-Taiwan relations and how the US has been supporting the country through these tough times. President Joe Biden has been warning the Chinese President Xiping about how the US will defend Taiwan at the time of need but this has not stopped the Chinese President from talking about the unification of the countries at the new year speech. Further, the papers talk about how Taiwan has prepared itself for the act of war. But we should not forget how Taiwan has also got in the middle of two big powers who are fighting for their global power.
