Abstract

Textile finishing plays a crucial role in enhancing the aesthetic appeal, functionality, and durability of textiles. However, traditional finishing methods often involve the use of harmful chemicals and generate significant environmental impact. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in exploring sustainable approaches to textile finishing, focusing on bio-based and eco-friendly alternatives. This review article provides an in-depth analysis of various sustainable approaches to textile finishing, including bio-based chemicals, natural dyes, enzyme treatments, and innovative technologies. The environmental benefits, challenges, and future prospects of these alternatives are discussed, along with case studies and examples from the industry.
