Abstract

This abstract provides a comprehensive overview of the labor rights and welfare schemes in India, focusing on the legislative landscape, challenges, and future directions. The discussion covers the historical context of labor legislation, key regulations, and their enforcement. Attention is given to the informal labor sector, gender disparities, and emerging trends shaping the workforce. The impact and effectiveness of existing welfare schemes, such as the Employees' Provident Fund and Employees' State Insurance, are analyzed. The challenges faced, including those related to job insecurity, digital transformation, and rural-urban disparities, are explored, and recommendations are made for policy reforms and enhanced worker welfare.
