Abstract

Even though centuries have passed, it is unlikely that the status of women will ever alter. Time has passively seen women endure many forms of misery, including discrimination, oppression, exploitation, degradation, aggressiveness and humiliation. This is due to the passage of time. Women have a significant position in Indian woman and society. Women were praised and worshipped as a “Devi” or Goddess in India’s ancient Vedic literature for their roles as the mother, the creator and the one who bestows life. However, the exaltation of these people was more legendary than real since, at the same time, in India, women found themselves completely oppressed and enslaved. The violence and assault of women is a global problem. The research focuses on a number of different types of violent crime that are committed against women. Sometimes the violence occurs even before birth in the form of foeticide; other times, it occurs in maturity in the form of sexual harassment and yet other times, it occurs throughout other phases of life. In the history of the Indian society, one of the most pressing problems has been the pervasive problem of violence against women, both in and outside of the house. Nearly half of India’s population consists of women, however the majority of them are oppressed by the country’s sociocultural and religious systems.
