Abstract

Supramolecular chemistry, often termed as “chemistry beyond the molecule,” involves the study of molecular assemblies and interactions that transcend covalent bonding. This review highlights recent advances in the field, exploring the design principles, synthetic strategies, and applications of supramolecular systems in areas such as drug delivery, molecular machines, and environmental remediation. The focus is on the interplay between molecular recognition, self-assembly, and functional properties that underpin the utility of supramolecular chemistry in addressing complex scientific and technological challenges. Key developments include the creation of responsive materials capable of dynamic behavior, innovations in host-guest chemistry for targeted therapeutic delivery, and the design of metal-organic frameworks for effective pollutant capture. Furthermore, the review discusses future directions in the field, emphasizing the potential of supramolecular systems to revolutionize energy storage, environmental sustainability, and biomedical technologies. This comprehensive overview underscores the transformative impact of supramolecular chemistry on modern science and its pivotal role in the development of next-generation materials and technologies.
