Abstract

The main purpose of this review paper is to reduce the pollution and making private transportation economical by reducing the fuel consumption which is done by conversion of fuel bike into electric bike. This will completely eliminate the fuel consumption. The electric bike is a complete unit consisting main components like motor, battery, controller, converter and other accessories like throttle, charger, battery indicator etc. It is clear that electric motor used to replace the engine and to propel the vehicle the motor used is BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motor.

Motor will be supplied by battery. Here the battery will act as fuel tank as it stores electric energy and can be refuel when required. Battery used is of Lithium-ion as it is less heavy and compact in size. The controller controls power flow and provide interfacing between motor, battery, throttle, battery charging and start/stop. Throttle (accelerator) is the component used for adjusting running speed of e-bike under different riding situations. Throttle controls the speed of vehicle. Battery indicator is used to indicate the battery charging level.
