Abstract

Circulators and isolators are the important device in microwave circuits mostly connecting high frequency cards. They provide matching and protection of various stages of circuits as reflections are eliminated by one of the matched ports. The characterization of the component is important as slight change in frequency or parameters impact the system performance. In the front-end of the receiver, slight increase in the losses associated with the isolator may impact the receiver threshold due to overall increase in the losses. This article details the characterization of the narrow band isolator extended beyond defined range and overall impact on the link margin performance due to deviation in the loss performance.
