Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing concern over the environmental impact of conventional packaging materials, leading to an increased interest in the development of biodegradable alternatives. Biodegradable polymer nanocomposites have emerged as promising candidates for sustainable packaging applications due to their environmentally friendly nature and improved mechanical, barrier, and thermal properties. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the fabrication and characterization techniques employed in the development of biodegradable polymer nanocomposites for packaging applications. Various types of biodegradable polymers, reinforcement materials, fabrication methods, and characterization techniques are discussed, along with their impact on the properties and performance of the resulting nanocomposites. Additionally, recent advancements, challenges, and future prospects in this field are highlighted, aiming to guide researchers towards the design and development of innovative and sustainable packaging materials.
