Abstract

As urbanization continues to accelerate globally, cities are faced with the challenge of
providing sustainable housing solutions that are both affordable and environmentally
responsible. Sustainable housing, which integrates environmental, economic, and social
sustainability principles, plays a critical role in creating livable urban spaces. However, the
rising demand for urban housing, driven by population growth and increasing urban
migration, exacerbates housing affordability challenges in many cities worldwide. This
article explores the importance of sustainable housing and affordable living, the challenges
faced in urban areas, and the policies and strategies necessary to promote affordable and
sustainable housing solutions. Through case studies and analysis, the article outlines the
potential pathways for integrating sustainability with affordability to foster resilient and
inclusive urban environments.
