Abstract

Radar is a contraction of words Radio Detection and Ranging. It is an electromagnetic system for detection and location of objects. It operates by transmitting a particular type of waveform and detects the nature of echo signal. Radar can see through conditions such as darkness, haze, fog, rain and snow which is not possible for human vision. A well-design Radar can extract more information from the target signal than merely range. This paper presents the fundamentals of radar systems, its working principle and theoretical analysis of radar range equation, types as well as the various applications.
