National Curriculum Framework-2005: Current Issues, Concerns and Way forward- A study of Kashmir Division of J&K
Abstract
National Curriculum framework is accepted as one the most important document of education in the country. It is also termed as the Bible of Education System of India which almost touches each and every domain of the education system. The Framework provides the comprehensive approach for making syllabi,textbooks and teaching practices within the school education programmes in India. The NCF 2005 document draws its policy basis from earlier government reports on education as Learning Without Burden, which observed that learning has become a source of burden and stress on children and their parents,National policy of Education (1986) and other reports. NCF 2005 is a document to modernise the Indian education setup at all levels so that creativity could be nurtured. As per various studies, the initial period of life i.e., early childhood is the stage during with almost 80% brain development takes place got immense attention via this document where emphasis was laid on nurturing the innate and natural curiosities of a child than making him dependent on spoon feeding.
National Curriculum Framework NCF 2005 describes the new vision of school education that is being promoted by the Government of India for schools throughout the country to:
- uphold values enshrined in the Constitution of India
- To reduce of curriculum load
- To ensure quality education for all
To initiate certain systemic changes
